 You pass out a large brass bolt for inspection. You then borrow a ring and have the spectator thread it on to the bolt. They then put the nut on the bolt trapping the ring. If that wasn't enough they then put a lock on the end of the bolt and retain the key. They then hand the bolt with the trapped ring to you. With no funny moves you hold the bolt in one hand, turn the hand face down and the ring frees itself from the locked bolt and falls to the table. You immediately turn your hand face up and hand the locked bolt to the spectator. This is my handling of the ring escape or what is known as ring off locked bolt. I came up with this handling several years back and decided to release it to other performers. What you get is the brass bolt with the nut and a lock. You also get a cloth bag to carry everything in and a booklet with instructions of my handling on this effect. You can also do this the old way with two hands under a cloth but I think it looks much nicer out in the open.
